Krížová Ves ( German  cross , Hungarian Keresztfalu ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 2280 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Kežmarok , a part of the Prešovský kraj .

geography

The municipality is located in the Popradská kotlina basin (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) on the right bank of the Poprad , at the foot of the Leutschauer Mountains to the east . The center of the village is at an altitude of 616  m nm and is 10 kilometers from Kežmarok .

history

Krížová Ves was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1290 as Krystur , but was founded on the estate of the Berzeviczy landowners before 1272 .
