history
Ianova is one of the oldest villages in the Banat. A first documentary mention comes from the years 1332-1337, when the place appeared in the papal tithe lists under the name Ilyno and Ienev . To the south of Ianova, the remains of a medieval fortress from the 14th to 16th centuries have been excavated, popularly known as the "Turkish fortress". In 1690 the village of Jenovo appears. Ianova is a Romanian village on the Mercy map from 1723 .
From 1718 to 1778 Ianova belonged to the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat . In 1778 the Banat was awarded to the Kingdom of Hungary by Empress Maria Theresa . From 1849 to 1860 it was part of an independent crown land, the Voivodeship of Serbia and the Temescher Banat . After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise , the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three parts, which led Ianova to the Kingdom of Romania .
In 1893 the village was named Margitfalva after the wife of the then landlord István Károlyi . Later the official name was changed to Temesjeno . In the middle of the 19th century, when Ianova was owned by the Csekonics family, Germans and Hungarians were also settled in the village. Ianova has been part of the Remetea Mare municipality since 1968.
