history
The first documentary mention of Evsen comes from the papal tithe lists of 1333. In 1361 Izvin belonged to the Hungarian landlord Posa Balazs. Other landowners were the Hungarian noble families Zeghary (1443), Esaky, Bendek and Bennesk, later the Csornay family.
The place appears on the first maps under the name Ósyeny . After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , Izvin was part of the Temescher Banat . Iesvin is inhabited on the Mercy map of 1723 . At the time of Empress Maria Theresia was viticulture in Izvin introduced.
After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise , the place was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy Austria-Hungary . As a result of the Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts, whereby Izvin fell to the Kingdom of Romania . An important day in the history of Izvin was King Ferdinand's visit on November 13, 1923.
- The Izvin stud
As early as 1855 there were stud farms in Orțișoara , Liebling , Deta and Pădureni in the Banat , while the stallions of the Austro-Hungarian army were kept in Izvin . After the Second World War, the Izvin stud was closed. In 1967 the horses from Pădureni were moved to Izvin. Today the state stud in Izvin is one of the largest in Romania. Horses of the Nonius , Ardennes , English thoroughbreds , Arabs , Lipizzaners and ponies are bred here. There is also a riding school in Izvin and a harness racing track in Timișoara with Izvin's horses.
