history

After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , Basosch was part of the Temescher Banat . A place called Bazos was first mentioned on the Mercy map. On the map from 1761 the place is entered as a prädium (pasture land). In 1783 the name Bassosch appears in the documents. In 1867 Basosch came into the possession of Count Ambrozy. In the 19th century, 30 Hungarian families were settled here.

On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts as a result of the Treaty of Trianon . The largest, eastern part, to which Bazoș also belongs, fell to the Kingdom of Romania .

Dendrological Park

Count Ludwig Ambrózy laid out the dendrological park between 1909 and 1914 . To do this, he brought trees and shrubs from North America, most of them from the Harvard University nursery .

The Dendrological Park in Bazoș is located about 20 kilometers from Timișoara. It is known nationwide for its biodiversity in trees and shrubs. Over 120 exotic plants and trees have been planted here, making the park one of the richest in North American species in what is now Romania.

The park is home to more than 800 species of trees and shrubs. For its biodiversity, it was designated a natural monument in 1984 . The park has been under nature protection since 1994 in order to preserve biodiversity.
