Hitiaș (German: Hittiasch , Hungarian: Hattyas ) is a village in Timiș County , in the Banat region , in southwestern Romania . Hitiaș belongs to the Racovița municipality .
Geographical location
Hitiaș is located in the center of Timiș County, halfway between Timișoara and Lugoj and 8 km from Buziaș , on the Drum județean DJ572 county road .

history
Over the centuries, different spellings of the name emerged: 1410 Hathyas 1447 Hatthyas , 1462 Hathyas , 1808 Hityias , 1851 Hityiás , 1888 Hittyiás , 1913 Hattyas , 1909 Hitia , Hittyiás , 1923 Hitiaș .
In 1428 the estate belonged to the landlord Emmerich von Hattyas. Also in the 15th century, the Dánfi von Duboz brothers are noted as the landlords. At the end of the century the Banffy family owned the estate.
On the Josephine land survey of 1717 Adiasch is registered with 50 houses. After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat .
As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The official place name was Hattyas .
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the division of the Banat into three parts , whereby Hitiaș fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
