Herrad Schenk

Herrad Schenk (born January 5, 1948 in Detmold ) is a German social scientist and writer .

Life

Herrad Schenk spent her childhood in Düsseldorf with four sisters . She is widowed and has stepchildren and grandchildren.

education

From 1954 to 1958 she attended in Dusseldorf and Heiligenkirchen the elementary school and from 1958 to 1966, a Düsseldorf language lycée . After high school she attended from 1967 to 1972 an economic and sociological studies at the universities in Cologne and York ( England ). In 1975, she was with a thesis on gerontology at the University of Cologne doctorate .

job

From 1972 to 1980 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Social Psychology at the University of Cologne . She then lived as a freelance writer in Bonn ; today it is based in Pfaffenweiler in Baden .

Herrad Schenk writes novels , short stories and essays as well as social science books . She is a member of the Association of German Writers and, since 1994, of the PEN Center Germany .

Awards

Schenk received the Georg Mackensen Literature Prize in 1979 , the Claassen Rose in 1987 and the Bonn Reading Literature Prize in 1993 .
