history

The first written mention of Herzogwind was 794 with the name "Herzewin". Until the end of the 18th century, Herzogwind was under the sovereignty of the Bamberg Monastery . The village and community rulership was exercised by the Bailiwick Leienfels . When the bishopric of Bamberg was secularized as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1802/03 and annexed by the Electorate Palatinate-Baiern in breach of the Imperial Constitution , Herzogwind also became part of the New Bavarian territories that were taken over during the "Napoleonic land consolidation" .

As a result of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Herzogwind became part of the rural community of Obertrubach with the second municipal edict in 1818, which also included the villages of Möchs and Neudorf as well as the deserted areas Hackermühle , Reichelsmühle , Schlöttermühle and Ziegelmühle . With the exception of Möchs, which was re-congregated in 1978 to Hiltpoltstein, these localities remained near Obertrubach even after the communal territorial reform in Bavaria in the 1970s. In 1987, Herzogwind had 111 inhabitants.

traffic

The connection to the public road network is mainly made by the district road FO 20 , which passes on the eastern edge of the town and which, coming from the south-south-east of Obertrubach, continues in a northerly direction to Bärnfels . Municipal roads connect the place with Geschwand , Hundsdorf and the western area of Obertrubach.
