history

Hettenhain is first mentioned in a document in 1195 under the name Hidenhagen . This is a derivation of the first name Hido . During the Thirty Years War, Hettenhain was almost completely depopulated and only slowly settled again.

Since December 31, 1971, Hettenhain has been a district of Bad Schwalbach after a voluntary merger as part of the regional reform in Hesse . As for every district outside the core city, the main statute established a local district for Hettenhain with a local advisory board and local councilor .
