history

Former school and town hall

Fischbach was first mentioned in a document in 1220. The name Fischbach is derived from Vissebach , the stream that flows through the meadows. The village probably emerged as a pure charcoal burner village shortly before 1220 . The remains of coal piles can still be found in the nearby forests.

Fischbach belonged to the Überhöhischen villages of the Rheingau and later to the county Katzenelnbogen .

Since December 31, 1971, Fischbach has been part of Bad Schwalbach after a voluntary merger in the course of the regional reform in Hesse . As for every district outside the core city, the main statute established a local district for Fischbach with a local advisory board and local councilor .

Culture and sights

A Sauerbrunnenanlage belongs to this quietly situated recreation area, which can be reached on foot about one kilometer away via a wide forest path. The water from this spring can be called mineral water.

There has also been another source of drinking water quality with a small resting place near the former water tunnel since 2016.

In the center of the village there is a large chess board with pieces that can be used by the public. During the winter a large illuminated wooden crib is set up.

The former threshing hall was converted into the community center Fischbachhalle in 1975 .

Economy and Infrastructure

tourism

Fischbach is an ideal starting point for nature lovers for hikes through the Wispertaunus and the hinterland forest . The Wispertaunus is one of the most densely forested parts of the Taunus and has largely been designated as an FFH area . In addition, the entire region is part of the Rhein-Taunus Nature Park , which aims to enable people to relax in a natural environment.

traffic

Fischbach is located on the K 669, which connects the place with Bad Schwalbach via the L 3374 coming from Langenseifen . The district road leads south from the junction in front of Langenseifen down into the Fischbachtal , follows the valley for a few hundred meters in the area of the through-town and then climbs up to Hausen vor der Höhe . In the direction of Bad Schwalbach there is a connection to the federal highway 260 halfway after a good four kilometers , which can be used to reach Wiesbaden and the Rhine-Main area to the south .
