Hinrich Balemann (lawyer)

Hinrich Balemann (born February 9, 1609 in Lübeck ; † December 15, 1656 ) was a German lawyer and council secretary of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Hinrich Balemann was the son of Lübeck councilor Heinrich Balemann (councilor, 1580) . From 1629 he studied law at the University of Rostock , from 1630 at the University of Angers . In 1634 Balemann became a lawyer in Lübeck. In 1639 the Lübeck council appointed him as its registrar, in 1640 he became council secretary and in 1649 first council secretary ( protonotary ). In 1652, Emperor Friedrich III. him to the Comes palatinus . The rector of the Katharineum in Lübeck Sebastian Meier gave his funeral speech.

Since 1640 he was married to Catharina Pöpping († 1699), a daughter of the Lübeck Council Secretary Friedrich Popping . The Lübeck councilor Heinrich Balemann (councilor, 1643) and the judge Friedrich Balemann were his sons.
