Hiromichi Terao ( Japanese 寺 尾 広 道 , Terao Hiromichi ; born June 15, 1989 in Nikkō , Honshū ) is a Japanese ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Nikkō IceBucks in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2017 .

Career

Hirmoichi Terao began his career as a hockey player with Komazawa Tomakomai. During his studies he played for the Waseda University team from 2008 to 2012 . For the 2012/13 season, the winger signed a contract with the Ōji Eagles from the Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH), for which he completed almost 250 games in five years. In 2017 he returned to his hometown and has since played for the Nikkō IceBucks in the ALIH.

International

For Japan Terao initially took part in the U18 World Championships in Division I in 2006 and 2007 in the junior division . With the Japanese U20 selection , he took part in the 2009 Junior World Championship in Division II, when he and the Lithuanian Povilas Verenis were second best scorer behind his compatriot Tadas Kumeliauskas and third best scorer behind Kumeliauskas and Verenis and then became the best striker of the tournament and best player of his team was chosen. He also played with the Japanese student selection at the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2012 , 2016 and 2018 as well as the Winter Asian Games in 2017 . At the Asian Games, he and his team won the bronze medal behind Kazakhstan and South Korea . He also represented his colors in the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 .
