The Historical Collection Connection Service ( HCV or HC Vbdd for short , German  "Historische Fernmeldesammlung", literally "Historical Collection Connection Service " , previously Museum Connection Service ) is probably the most important display collection in the Netherlands on the subject of telecommunications technology used by Dutch telecommunications troops . It is located at 198 Barchman Wuytierslaan in Amersfoort and is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

history

The forerunner of the HCV is the original museum liaison service . It was founded on February 18, 1969 in the Elias Beeckman barracks in Ede . After the barracks closed in 2006, a new location had to be found. This was found with the Bernhardkaserne (named after Prince Bernhard ) in Amersfoort. The museum at the old location was finally closed on June 1, 2009, moved and was finally reopened on February 18, 2015 as a "Historical Collection" under the direction of the Verbingstroepen Regiment (Dutch Telecommunications Regiment ).

Exhibits

The exhibitions include military and agents - radios , as well as key equipment , as well as historical uniforms and a variety of other exhibits. This includes an authentic Enigma I , which was used in the Second World War to encrypt the communications of the German Wehrmacht . The collections are divided chronologically into five fifty-year periods covering the period from 1800 to 2050.

While the first period from 1800 to 1850 was devoted to early optical and acoustic communication links, the focus from 1850 to 1900 was on wired telegraphy . The third section up to 1950 comprises the two world wars and focuses on wireless radio technology . The second half of the 20th century was finally characterized by the automation and digitization of communications technology . And the fifth department ( 2000 to 2050) leads into the modern age and gives an outlook into the near future of information technology .
