Hits for the hospice has been recognized by the Federal Volunteer Service since 2016 . In the same year, the club's founder, Paul Falk, was appointed to the board of the Federal Children's Hospice Foundation.
history
The idea to found the Hits fürs Hospiz initiative arose from Paul Falk's personal experience of suffering and death when his sister became terminally ill. At that time there was no hospice place for her where her suffering could have been alleviated in the last months of her life. In June 2007 this led him to organize a benefit concert with the Bläck Fööss and other artists in the schoolyard of the Bensberg elementary school . The donation total was 100,000 euros. In November 2007 Falk was able to hand over a total of 150,000 euros as the first donation to the Hospiz Association for an extension of the hospice at the Bensberg Vinzenz-Pallotti-Hospital.
legal form
The association was founded in 2007 as a non-profit initiative. Since 2012 it has been entered in the register of associations of the Cologne District Court under the name Hits fürs Hospiz eV .
financing
The association works on a voluntary basis and finances its expenses exclusively from donations and contributions from private individuals, companies and foundations - such as the Porsche Center Bensberg, the German Red Cross or the technical aid organization . The association also receives significant income from the implementation of benefit events with popular artists who perform free of charge. The club name arose from this idea. The collections regularly carried out at the events are supported by the Bethe Foundation by doubling the donations received.
