Hochstadt is a district of the municipality Weßling in the Upper Bavarian district of Starnberg . The still predominantly rural place has about 800 inhabitants. The name comes from "high-altitude site".
location
The church village is about 2.4 km southwest of Weßling. The center is located at an altitude of 620 m above sea level. NN . The highest point is the Riedberg at 645 m above sea level. NHN . The village is crossed by the district road Weßling - Unering (STA6), from which there is a junction to Oberbrunn .
Geologically, Hochstadt is located on the border between the Isar-Loisach young moraine landscape and the Paar Isar region on a young moraine from the Würm period with terminal moraine trains . North of the village you will find two dead ice holes , west of Aubach flows through a former lime marsh, an important habitat for stone cancer , grass snake and minnow .
history
The place, founded around 750, belonged to the imperial monastery Benediktbeuern in the late Middle Ages . In the 14th century, ie under Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria , moved Hochstadt from the district court because home to district court Starnberg .

Infrastructure / life
Located in Hochstadt is the community of Weßling's leisure home with an event and theater hall. Hochstadt has a kindergarten, a daycare center, a rifle club, a choir, a fruit and horticultural club and the volunteer fire department .
In 2011 the maypole was erected in Hochstadt in the old tradition, without technical aids (with the exception of so-called “crowds”) with pure muscle power . The maypole was 39.1 m (37.5 m in 2007). In 2015, the 36-meter-high tree fell over when it was set up and broke. A three meter long section was set up.
Until July 2014, the village festival was held every two years in the Hochstadter school garden (Hortgarten). It was organized by the Hochstadt associations (MGV D'Riedberger eV, Aubachschützen Hochstadt eV, Freiwillige Feuerwehr Hochstadt eV and Fruit and Horticulture Association Hochstadt) and was launched as the successor to the wine festival that used to take place every three years.
Personalities
The animal painter Josef Dahlem (1872–1955) lived in Hochstadt .
