The Hodlerstrasse joins the bulwark in the northeast , the Lorraine Bridge in the northwest and Waisenhausplatz in the east .
history
The northernmost street of the red quarter was called Hintere Speichergasse until the demolition of the city walls in the area of today's office building . The continuous connection from the orphanage to the Henkerbrünnli, which was created after the razing, was named Henkersbrunnenstrasse . This was the first time a name with -strasse instead of -gasse was created. The construction of the Centralbahn line in 1857 and 1858 required an underpass at the bridgehead of the railway bridge. In the 1860s, today's Hodlerstrasse was given the name Waisenhausstrasse . In 1932 the town council gave it the name Ferdinand Hodler Strasse , in honor of Ferdinand Hodler . Some of his most important works can be found in the art museum located on Hodlerstrasse . Originally, across from the art museum, the Natural History Museum in Bern was housed in a counterpart building opposite, before it moved to a new building on Bernastrasse in the Kirchenfeld district in 1936 and the old building was replaced by a new one. This is where the bfu - Accident Prevention Advice Center is located. Since January 1, 1948, the name has been Hodlerstrasse.
