Hoengseong County ( Korean : 고성군 , Hoengseong-gun ) is located in Gangwon-do Province in South Korea . The administrative headquarters are located in the city of Hoengseong-eup. The district had an area of 997 km² and a population of 47,257 inhabitants in 2019.
Hanu, a Korean variety of beef from Hoengseong, is widespread in South Korea. The region's clean environment enables high-quality cattle to be raised. The county launched a strategic marketing campaign in 1995 to promote itself as the origin of the best beef in Korea.
