Yanggu County ( Korean : 양구군 , Yanggu-gun ) is located in Gangwon-do Province in South Korea . The administrative headquarters are in the city of Yanggu-eup. The district had an area of 702 km² and a population of 23,052 inhabitants in 2019.
The northern part of Yanggu County was part of the front line during much of the Korean War and is now bordered by the Demilitarized Zone .
A village in Yanggu is considered to be the geographic center of the Korean Peninsula .
