Jeongseon County ( kor .: 정선군 , Jeongseon-gun ) is located in Gangwon-do Province in South Korea . The administrative headquarters are in Jeongseon-eup City. It had an area of 1,220 km² and a population of 37,573 inhabitants in 2019.
Present-day Jeongseon County was ruled by the Goguryeo Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms and called Ingpyae-hyeon (잉 패현). After the Silla Dynasty unified the Korean peninsula, it was renamed Jeongseon-hyeon in 757. After the founding of the Goryeo dynasty , he was promoted to a county (gun) in 1012 or 1018.
During the 2018 Winter Olympics , ski races were held at the Jeongseon Alpine Center .
