The Homert is 536.7  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the southern Sauerland mountainous region . It is located in the Sauerland in the Olper district of Neger in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Olpe ( Germany ).

The Homert rises roughly in the center of the Olpe district, in the eastern part of the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park and in the urban area of Olpe . Its summit is 6.5 km northeast of the center of Olper's core town between the village districts of Neger (with the locality of Oberneger) in the west and Oberveischede in the east-northeast, which, like the mountain, belong to the district of Rhode .

The northern neighboring mountain of Homert is the Feldberg ( 556.2  m ) and its south- eastern branch is the Lambertsberg ( 533.8  m ).

In a valley depression northeast of the Homert, the Lenne tributary Veischede rises in the area of ​​a garbage dump . On the northwestern mountain slope in the transition area to the Feldberg lies the source of the Neger , a tributary of the Bieke, which rises on the Lambertsberg .

The county road  18, the nearby Biggesee the village negro north passing to the south-east extending federal highway 55 connects leads west to the Homert and on their neighbors Feldberg and Lambertsberg over.

The Homert belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33), in the main unit Westsauerländer Oberland (336), in the subunit Südsauerländer Bergland (336.2) and its part Südsauerländer Rothaarvorhöhen (336 2 .5) to the natural area Fahlenscheid (336 2 .51 ).

Protected areas

Parts of the landscape protection area (LSG) Kreis Olpe ( CDDA no. 555555098; ​​designated 1984; 265.0307  km² in size) lie on the Homert . Parts of the LSG Bigge and Lister-Bergland (type A) (CDDA no. 555555272; 1988; 49.1419 km²) and LSG Bigge and Lister-Bergland (type B) (CDDA- No. 378680; 1988; 2.9253 km²). Parts of the Griesemert nature reserve are located on the southern slope of the Lambertsberg near Homert (CDDA no. 555560725; 2013; 80.92  ha ).
