The Hopkins Township is one of 22 townships in Whiteside County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2010 the Hopkins Township had 2,156 inhabitants.

The Hopkins Township is located in northwest Illinois on the north bank of the Rock River . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , is about 30 km to the west; the Wisconsin border is 50 miles north.

The Hopkins Township is located at 41 ° 48 '  N , 89 ° 49'  W and extends over 93.2 km², which is spread over 92.2 km² of land and 1.0 km² of water.

The Hopkins Township is located in the eastern center of Whiteside County and borders the Genesee Township in the north, the Jordan Township in the northeast, the Sterling Township in the east, the Coloma Township in the southeast, the Hume Township in the south, and the southwest the Lyndon Township , on the west by the Mount Pleasant Township and the northwest by the Clyde Township .

The Interstate 88 , the Quad Cities with Chicago connects leads in west-east direction through the south of the township. US Highway 30 runs a few kilometers north of it . All other roads are county roads or further subordinate and partly unpaved roads.

A Union Pacific Railroad line runs parallel to Highway 30 .

The Whiteside County Airport is a small airfield around 10 km west of Hopkins Township. The nearest major airports are Chicago Rockford International Airport, around 90 km northeast, and Quad City International Airport, around 80 km southwest .

According to the 2010 census , Hopkins Township had 2,156 people in 854 households. The population density was 23.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.52 people lived in each of the 854 households.
