Horst-Dieter Klock (born August 22, 1935 in Saarbrücken ; † August 22, 2011 ) was a German theater scholar , film production manager , children's book author and founder and head of the Berlin Fairy Tale Days for several years .

Live and act

Horst-Dieter Klock moved with his family to Berlin-Schöneberg in 1965 . In 1977 he presented his dissertation with Theater as an event - a contribution to the specifics of the theatrical process and received his doctorate as a theater scholar with magna cum laude . He then had a small role in the film The Marriage of Maria Braun by Rainer Werner Fassbinder , advised David Bowie on his leading role as "Paul" in Schöne Gigolo, poor Gigolo and took over the press work for Chronos Film . In the mid-1980s there were no jobs as film production or location manager, which is why he first took a position as caretaker and soon afterwards as archivist at the Technical University of Berlin .

In order to "stop the decline of the culture of fairy tales", Klock initiated the New Society for Literature in 1990 to found the Berlin Fairy Tale Days and was its full-time director and author until 1999. When he left, the Berlin Fairy Tale Days were awarded the German Children's Culture Prize in October 1999 . In this context, he received the Rahel-Varnhagen-von-Ense-Medal (2002) and the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon (2003) and awards linked to his person.

From 1984 he was a member of the Friedrich Bödecker Circle and from 1987 in the New Society for Literature.

Horst-Dieter Klock and his wife, who had also died of cancer three years before him, had five children and lived in Berlin-Schöneberg until his death.
