Horst Gies (politician)
Horst Gies (born January 23, 1961 in Ahrweiler ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the state parliament in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 2011 .
Life
Horst Gies attended the Ahrweiler elementary school and passed the Abitur at the Peter-Joerres-Gymnasium in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in 1980 . He completed his agricultural studies in Bonn with a degree in engineering. Agr. before he did a postgraduate course at the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences in the fields of viticulture and oenology , which he completed with the diploma examination as Dipl.-Ing. Viticulture (FH) graduated. After completing his studies, he worked for the marketing organization "Bäder-, Wein- und Wanderland Rhein, Ahr, Eifel eV" - regional wine advertising and completed a traineeship at the vocational school for viticulture in Bernkastel-Kues , where he graduated as a study assessor . Since December 1st, 1993 he worked as district manager of the farmers and winegrowers' association Rhineland-Nassau eV in the two districts of Ahrweiler and Mayen-Koblenz and manager of the winegrowing association Ahr .
Horst Gies is married and has three children.

Horst Gies is a member of the CDU and has various management functions there. He is chairman of the CDU city association Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and chairman of the CDU district association Ahrweiler. In terms of local politics, he was the mayor of Ahrweiler from 1999 to 2014 and is the 1st district councilor in the Ahrweiler district .
On June 21, 2010, Gies was elected direct candidate for the constituency of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler for the 2011 state elections by the CDU representative assembly in Dernau with 58 votes . Since the state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2011 , he has been a member of the state parliament. In the state elections in 2016 he achieved the best first vote result in Rhineland-Palatinate with 51.2%. He is a full member of the Agriculture and Viticulture Committee .
