Horst Lehmann

Horst Lehmann (born December 18, 1929 in Springberg ; † August 2, 2016 in Stralsund ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was Lord Mayor of Stralsund for 18 years .

Life

Horst Lehmann came to what was then the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania after the expulsion in 1945/1946 . He learned to be a baker . He became a member of the SED and from July 1951 worked in the state service of the GDR . Until 1971 he was chairman of the council of the Grimmen district .

On April 19, 1971 Horst Lehmann was elected Lord Mayor of Stralsund at the suggestion of the Rostock District Council, after Heinzlesener had been recalled as Lord Mayor of Stralsund by the city council of Stralsund. At that time, Horst Lehmann was still studying at the “Karl Marx” party college . He completed his studies as a social scientist and was introduced to his post as mayor in August 1971. At the same time he was a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership in Stralsund.

Horst Lehmann remained Lord Mayor until November 9, 1989, when he lost his office in the course of the political change in the GDR.
