Horst Preisler
Horst Preisler (born August 2, 1935 ) is a German marathon and ultramarathon runner . The Hamburg until 1999 head of the personnel department of the BG Trauma Hospital Hamburg , from 1995 until August 2, 2011 World record holder in the marathon collecting; on January 28, 2012 there were 1762 marathons and ultra marathons. His successor as world number one is his former club colleague Christian Hottas , who was the first to run his 2000th marathon at the TUI Marathon Hannover on May 5, 2013.
Preisler started running in 1974. After a fun run over 20 km, he signed up for a 100 km run, which he completed in 15:48 h. Over time he improved over this distance to 8:15:38 h (1986, Rodenbach ); Over the 42.195 km distance, he achieved his best time of 2:54:39 h in 1984 at the Bienwald Marathon . His best distance in the 24-hour run is 214.708 km, recorded on October 11, 1987 in Biel . The longest distance he covered in a competition was 661.2 km in a six-day run in 1993 in La Rochelle .
In 1980 he ran across Germany with his son as a bicycle companion, covering 1080 km in 18 days. In 1995 he was one of seven runners who were invited to a peace run from Hiroshima to Nagasaki (430 km); However, he had to give up this run after 350 km due to intestinal cramps. He successfully finished the Spartathlon (245 km) four times . In total, Preisler, training and competitions have put together more than 200,000 km on foot.
At the Berlin Marathon 2000, Preisler became the first person to finish a marathon for the 1000th time. In the same year, on the 10th anniversary of German unification, he ran 816 km along the entire former inner-German border together with his running friend Dietrich Barthel from Schwerin . Until 2014 he took part in all the Hamburg Marathon events.
Horst Preisler starts for TuS Berne and LAV Hamburg-Nord. To mark his 70th birthday, Preisler and LAV Hamburg-Nord organized a birthday marathon on the tartan track of the Sportpark Oldenfelde , the proceeds of which were donated to a school project in Ghana that is being looked after by his daughter. In 2009, for a video installation by artist Michael Schwarz, he covered the last three kilometers of the Hamburg Marathon with a strapped-on frame to which a camera was attached that filmed him in close-up. The 31-minute video was supplemented with interviews about the installation Lebenslauf, which was purchased directly from a selection committee for the state of Rhineland-Palatinate at the 2010 art fair . In 2012 Kehrer Verlag published the photo book Silver Heroes by the photo artist Karsten Thormaehlen , which shows Horst Preisler on the cover in the port of Hamburg . The foreword was written by John R. Beard, Director of Aging and Life Course of the World Health Organization . The project was nominated for the German Age Award of the Robert Bosch Foundation in 2013.
