Horst Skodlerrak
Horst Skodlerrak (born January 18, 1920 in Jugnaten , Heydekrug district in the East Prussian Memelland ; † October 13, 2001 in Lübeck ) was a German painter who lived mainly in Lübeck after the war .
Life
In Konigsberg Skodlerrak 1937 began studying art at the Art Academy in Königsberg in Alfred particles . During the war , he married his childhood friend Liselotte Quass in 1944. In 1945 he was briefly captured and interned in Darmstadt . In 1950 he spent several months in Berlin , where he the controversies surrounding objectivity and non-objectivity witnessed in painting. In 1957 he became a member of the Darmstadt Secession , of which he was a member until 1984. From 1964, Skodlerak worked as a lecturer at the later Muthesius Art College in Kiel .
In 1958 he received the Bremen Art Prize . The Villa Romana Prize enabled him and his family to stay longer in Tuscany in 1962/63 , where many pictures were taken. He repeatedly (?) Returned to Italy. In the early 1990s, Skodlerrak fell seriously ill and spent his last years in the Lübeck district of Travemünde , where he died in 2001. The city of Lübeck honored Horst Skodlerrak on the occasion of his 90th birthday in 2010 with a comprehensive exhibition of his watercolors, paintings and graphics.
Appreciation
Horst Skodlerrak is considered an artist of the New Objectivity . He painted "representational, but not realistic". The following bon mot has been handed down: “What am I interested in Picasso in Paris ? I'm Skodlerrak in Brodten ”(the smallest district of Travemuende ).
