Howard E. Smith

Howard E. Smith (born December 5, 1945 in Clearfield , Utah ) is an American film editor .

Howard E. Smith made his debut as editor in 1978 with the televised horror film A Deadly Menace , directed by Wes Craven . His next film, Tex , was produced in 1982; this was the first collaboration with director Tim Hunter . A year later he was involved in Eerie Shadow Lights, the sequel to the television series Twilight Zone . In 1987 Smith made his first film with Near Dark with director Kathryn Bigelow . Four years later, they worked together again on Hazardous Surf , Strange Days followed in 1995, and in 2000, The Weight of Water was their last collaboration to date. Another director Smith worked with regularly was James Foley . An example of this is the 1999 film The Corruptor .
