Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on April 18, 1986 that the film tells a " sparse, violent, unforgettable " story of a young man in search of his father, who, however, does not love him and is ready to kill his son . The film, based on true events from 1978, reminds Ebert of the ancient tragedies. The " great actors " Sean Penn and Christopher Walken are in top form.

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was “a rousing staged thriller with a socio-psychological background, intensive milieu drawing and convincing actors ”. However, “ the father-son conflict ” is “ only imperfectly illuminated ” and “ often takes a back seat to the action effects ”.
