Hubert Hammerl (born October 25, 1971 in Graz ) is an Austrian triathlete . He is included in the best list of Austrian triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Hubert Hammerl grew up in Graz and attended the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Seebacher .

Water polo 1987 to 1997

He began his sporting career as a swimmer in Graz.
From 1987 to 1997 he played water polo and was also Austrian national champion with the WBC-Tirol . He completed his first triathlon in 1995.

Triathlon professional since 2000

The triathlon specialist in the long or Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) has been active as a professional since 2000. In 2004 Hammerl took part in the Tour of Austria and was the first triathlete to finish it. He was trained by Daniel Kezele and Klaus-Peter Justus .

By the end of 2010, Hubert Hammerl had successfully completed 36 long distance competitions and was placed in the top 10 nine times. His nickname is "Ironator" .
In 2010 he ended his career as a professional triathlete.

In August 2018, the 46-year-old started at the Ironman Tallinn and finished 34th.

Private

Hammerl has lived in Jena (Germany) since the end of 2005 . He is married and they have a son and a daughter. After completing his distance learning law degree at Franzens University , he worked as a real estate agent and house seller in Jena.
