Humanata (also: Umanata ) is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Humanata is located in the province of Eliodoro Camacho and is the central location of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Humanata , which was spun off from the Municipio Puerto Acosta as an independent Municipio together with the Municipio Escoma in 2009 . The village is located at an altitude of 3942  m in a wide plain on the northwestern edge of the Cordillera Muñecas near the border with Peru on a left tributary of the Río Suches , which flows into Lake Titicaca at the village of Escoma .

Humanata is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The region's climate is typical of the time of day , in which the mean temperature differences are greater during the day than during the seasons.

The mean average temperature of the region is 8 ° C, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 5 ° C in July and 10 ° C in December (see climate diagram Puerto Acosta). The annual precipitation is around 750 mm, the monthly precipitation is between under 10 mm in the months of June and July and over 100 mm from December to March.

Transport network

Humanata is located at a distance of 209 kilometers by road northwest of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz, the paved road Ruta 2 leads 70 kilometers northwest to Huarina , from there the Ruta 16 branches off , which continues as a paved road in a southwest direction for 97 kilometers along Lake Titicaca to Escoma . From there, the Ruta 16 continues as an unpaved piste in a northerly direction to Villa Rosario de Wilacala . After Escoma, a dirt road branches off to the northwest after 36 kilometers, which reaches Humanata after a further six kilometers.

Due to the historically evolved population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population, in the municipality of Puerto Acosta (limit from 2001, including the present-day municipalities of Puerto Acosta, Escoma and Humanata) 99.1 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
