Humbert Fink

Humbert Fink , born Luigi Umberto Fink (born August 13, 1933 in Vietri sul Mare near Salerno , Italy ; † May 16, 1992 in Maria Saal , Carinthia ) was an Austrian writer and journalist.

Life

Humbert Fink spent his childhood in southern Italy , after which he lived for many years in Villach , Vienna and Klagenfurt , from 1978 until his death he lived in Maria Saal.

After a volume of poetry and two novels, Fink wrote numerous travel and non-fiction books, especially biographies of historical personalities. In 1957/58 he published the Austrian papers and from 1959 with Paul Kruntorad the booklets for literature and criticism . Fink was a member of Group 47 , ten years after its dissolution, he and Ernst Willner developed the idea of ​​the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in 1977 . As an author and lecturer, Fink also designed series of programs on ORF , from 1967 two to three programs a week (such as the cultural-political perspectives or journeys under the double-headed eagle ). He was a regular contributor to the Bavarian Radio and other German and Swiss radio stations, author, lecturer and newspaper commentator.

Humbert Fink Literature Prize

Since 2014, the city of Klagenfurt has awarded the Humbert Fink Literature Prize, endowed with 12,000 euros, every two years.
