Hydra is the sixth album by the Dutch band Within Temptation . It was released on January 22nd, 2014 by Roadrunner Records .
Album name
The name of the album refers to the ancient myth of the Hydra . Guitarist Robert Westerholt said: " Hydra is the perfect title for our new album, because like the monster, the album represents the many different sides of our music" (Hydra is a perfect title for our new album, because like the monster itself, the record represents the many different sides of our music).
reception
Hydra was received very benevolently in the German-language specialist press . In particular, the consistent further development of their own style as well as the cooperation with Xzibit and Tarja Turunen received praise, although Powermetal.de would prefer to ban “And We Run” from the record. The album also received good reviews internationally, Metalstorm did not describe Hydra as the best album, but as "another pearl in the necklace that these talented musicians create".
“[...] another great work from WITHIN TEMPTATION, which could not be improved much, especially compositionally. The predecessor "The Unforgiving" still has to be beaten by a narrow margin as it had a few more grandiose melodies with catchy tunes and goose bumps guarantee in the luggage. That makes the new album a little less gripping, but all fans of the band should definitely not be disappointed by "Hydra". "
