The International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences (IAPPS) (in German: International Association of Plant Protection Sciences ) aims to record the results of global plant protection research and to make them available to global phytomedical science and practice. For this purpose it periodically publishes the plant protection magazine and organizes international congresses every four years. The most recent event, the IPPC 2015, took place in Berlin.
history
The IAPPS was founded in 1946 during the first international plant protection congress in Leuven . The organization's first president was Olaf Freyberg from Malmö . He commented on the founding of the company with the following words: The world needs an international organization for plant protection not only to plan future congresses, but to create an even greater platform for the discussion of current research issues between scientists .
Over the years, the periodic newsletter and yearbooks were published and congresses were held. The international congresses, which take place every four years, take place alternately on different parts of the world. Plant protection scientists and associations for agricultural research from all parts of the world are represented on the administrative board and board of the association. The IAPPS organization has 15 regional offices worldwide.
During the International Plant Protection Congress 2015 in Berlin, the German Phytomedical Society , the Julius Kühn Institute and the Agricultural Industry Association were the organizers of the congress. The IPPC 2019 congress is planned for November 2019 in Hyderabad , Telanga, India.
