The Isac is a river in France that runs mainly in the Loire-Atlantique department , in the Pays de la Loire region . It arises from the confluence of two source streams at the municipal boundary of Abbaretz and Joué-sur-Erdre , drains generally in a south-westerly direction and reaches the Canal de Nantes à Brest at La Chevallerais , which from here it serves as a canalised river. Just before its confluence, the river separates from the canal and flows into the Vilaine after 69 kilometers northeast of Théhillac , but in the municipality of Fégréac as a left tributary . Just before its mouth, it forms the border to the neighboring Morbihan department in the Brittany region for a few hundred meters . The Isac is navigable in the area of the Canal de Nantes à Brest. Today the canal is only used for tourism by sport boats and houseboats .
