I Set My Friends on Fire (often abbreviated as ISMFOF ) is an American post-hardcore trio that was founded in 2007. The band name is derived from a song by Aiden . I Set My Friends on Fire combine post-hardcore with electro and rock elements . The project is located in Miami , USA .

Band history

I Set My Friends on Fire was founded in 2007 by Matt Mehana and Nabil Moo in Miami, Florida. Her career began with a cover version on MySpace . The band's first track was a cover of Soulja Boy's hit Crank Dat . The song has been played over a million times and the song also went viral via various tribute videos . Their MySpace page was blocked again and again, but the song made the band known and their new songs also appealed to the more than 97,000 "friends" on MySpace. In 2008 a self-titled EP was also released .

Shortly afterwards, the band received a recording contract with the well-known independent label Epitaph Records . Her second show was an appearance at the Bamboozle Festival with punk greats like Jimmy Eat World and Paramore . In 2008 her debut album You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter was released . the album was produced by Travis Richter (guitarist and singer of From First to Last / Human Abstract ). This was followed by tours in support of Silverstein , Chiodos and A Skylit Drive .

Between 2008 and 2009 the duo worked with the comedy duo Smosh . Together, the four released the music video Sex Ed Rocks , which received more than 20 million views. The collaboration continued with Four Years Foreplay . About this time drummer and keyboardist Chris Lent from From First to Last joined the band. In the summer of 2010, during the Scream-It-Like-You-Mean-It tour, it was announced that Nabil Moo had left the band to finish school. Blake Steiner represented him on tours and recording sessions until a replacement was found in Ashton Howarth. In 2011 the album Astral Rejection was created .

Currently the band is no longer under contract with Epitaph.

Music genre

I Set My Friends on Fire combines punk and hardcore punk with elements of electronic music. They use breakdowns , auto-tunes , electronic interludes, dance , techno and sing-along passages. The music can next to the post-hardcore also the Electro Grind be attributed
