Ick and Berlin is a documentary film of the DEFA studios for newsreel and documentary films by Bruno Kleberg from the year 1957 .

action

In Berlin a house sparrow , which in this city is preferably called a sparrow , sits on the street and eats the remains of a roll for breakfast. First of all, he tells about the people and the places that he meets again and again and also shows them. You can see Friedrichstrasse station , Alexanderplatz , Dimitroffstrasse , the park in front of the skyscraper on Weberwiese , Weidendammer Bridge with a view of the Berliner Ensemble , a circus in front of the child's house , Volkspark am Weinberg and Köllnische Park included the Bärenzwinger and the Märkisches Museum .

Then the sparrow wants to show the moviegoers the park that was built especially for the animals. The Tierpark Berlin is located on the site of the former palace park in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde . Before the construction work could begin, there were a great many plans and a great many questions. Zoo director Heinrich Dathe and his architects had a lot of problems to resolve. When the plans for the first phase of construction were ready, countless volunteers arrived with shovels and spades to actively demonstrate their love for animals. Several companies, such as the Berliner Zeitung and the Friedrichstadtpalast, did not keep their promises, so there were delays. But there were also many companies and institutions that kept their word and so the park was filled with animals from all over the world, most of which can also be seen in the film. But many systems are still in the planning stage or are already under construction, such as the bear shop window and the system for the predators.
