The Norges idrettsforbunds idrettsmerke , or Idrettsmerket for short, is a Norwegian sports badge that has been awarded by the Norges idrettsforbund og olympiske og paralympiske komité ( Norway's Sports Association and Olympic and Paralympic Committee (NIF)) since 1915 . The services to be provided for the acquisition are graded according to age and gender. Depending on the number of repetitions, the Idrettsmerket is awarded in bronze, silver or gold.

history

The Idrettsmerket was founded at the meeting of the Norges Riksforbund on May 29, 1915. Initially, only men were allowed to receive; it was not until 1934 that women were also allowed. In the first year of the Idrettsmerket 413 badges were awarded, in 2013 there were 5172.

Disciplines

The Idrettsmerket contains disciplines from athletics , gymnastics , cycling , swimming , winter and water sports . A special feature of the Idretts Merket is the proof of 20 sports units of at least 30 minutes duration and three endurance units without timekeeping, which must be completed in addition to the requirements of the individual disciplines.

In the Utholdenhet Uten Tidtaking category there is the possibility of recognition of participation in sporting events with an emphasis on endurance.

Design and finishes

The badge consists of an oval oak wreath in bronze , silver or gold with the national coat of arms of Norway at the top. The field inside the wreath is green. For the badge for the 50th acquisition the field is blue, for the 60th acquisition it is red. The Idrettsmerket is awarded in several stages:

  • 1st acquisition - idrettsmerke i bronse (sports badge in bronze)
  • 5th acquisition - idrettsmerke i sølv (sports badge in silver)
  • 9. Acquisition - idrettsmerke i gull (sports badge in gold)
  • 15. Acquisition - idrettsmerkestatuetten (statue for the sports badge)
  • 20. Acquisition - idrettsmerkekruset (cup for sports badge)
  • 25th acquisition - idrettsmerkets miniatyrstatuettt i bronse (bronze statue for the sports badge)
  • 30. Acquisition - idrettsmerkets hederspris (honorary award of the sports badge)
  • 40th acquisition - 40-års mark med NIF diploma (badge 40 years with certificate of the NIF)
  • 50th acquisition - 50-års mark med NIF diploma (badge 50 years with certificate of the NIF)
  • 60th acquisition - 60-års mark med NIF diploma (badge 60 years with certificate of the NIF)

There is a green ribbon buckle for the Idrettsmerket , which was allowed to be worn on the uniform of the Norwegian armed forces . This regulation was in effect until 2008.

With the entry into force of the reorganization of the regulations for Norwegian orders and decorations, the Idrettsmerket may no longer be created. The badge is now one of eight elements of the Forsvarets medalje for feltsport , which together with the Forsvarets medalje for skyting have been the only two approved badges for sporting achievements since January 1st, 2012.
