Ignaz Bearth

Ignaz Bearth (* 1984 ) is a right-wing extremist Swiss politician . He was a co-founder and only president of the former small party Direct Democratic Party of Switzerland (DPS).

Life

Bearth grew up in Werdenberg and after finishing his school career completed an apprenticeship as a transport infrastructure builder . He has lived in Uzwil since 2006 .

politics

Bearth was a member of the right-wing extremist party, Nationally Oriented Swiss (PNOS), for which he also appeared publicly. He was a co-founder and the only president of the Swiss Direct Democratic Party . In spring 2013 Bearth supported the right-wing extremist Jobbik in the Hungarian election campaign.

Bearth ran for the DPS St. Gallen in the National Council elections on October 18, 2015 and, according to the preliminary election result, achieved 0.1% of the votes cast. In February 2016 Bearth wanted to run in the cantonal elections in St. Gallen in the constituency of Wil.

Since the merger of the DPS with the party of nationally oriented Swiss in 2017, Bearth has been a member of the PNOS again.

PEGIDA

The unsuccessful Pegida spin-off PEGIDA Switzerland was founded on January 9, 2015 in Zurich . Bearth resigned as its spokesman on January 16. The Swiss Federal Prosecutor's Office had announced an investigation into insulting a foreign state, but subsequently did not open any criminal proceedings against Bearth. On Facebook, he described the German Chancellor and the Federal Government as the “real Nazis in Berlin”.

In 2015 he appeared in Linz, Vienna, Weil am Rhein and Dresden as a speaker at Pegida events outside Switzerland.

Facebook Likes Controversy

Bearth is suspected by various media of having bought the majority of his 30,000 (as of 2015) Facebook likes , mainly from India (43%) and Serbia (14.9%). At the beginning of September 2017, Ignaz Bearth's account on Facebook was blocked.
