Igor
Igor is a male given name and a variant of the name Ingvar (Scandinavian), which was brought to Rus by the Scandinavian, mainly Swedish Varangians around the 9th century .
The first part of the name comes from the Proto-North Germanic * Ing (w) ia (Ingi-), an epithet of the god Freyr ; the second stem means * Harjaz (warrior) or * Warjaz (defender).
