Ihosy is a city in southern Madagascar . In 2005 about 18,200 people lived there.
geography
Ihosy is located on a plateau at an altitude of around 730 m and is the main town of the Ihorombe region , in the former province of Fianarantsoa . The Isalo National Park is located a few kilometers west; the Andringitra National Park a few kilometers east of the city.
The capital Antananarivo is 616 km north of the city.

Ihosy has a humid subtropical climate with monsoon influences (Cwa). The annual average temperature is 21.9 ° C.

Economy and Infrastructure
75% of the inhabitants of Ihosy live from agriculture, where they mainly grow rice, corn, cassava and peanuts. Furthermore, 20% live from cattle breeding. 3% earn their living in the service sector and 2% from fishing.
