occupation

Il pistolero segnato da Dio is a spaghetti western by Giorgio Ferroni from 1968. He previously received no German-language performance.

action

In 1880 ranchers and farmers fought each other in Clayton. Land grabbing is the order of the day, and murders like Coleman's father of the boy Tony Murphy are commonplace. He is now brought up by an aunt and admires the circus art shooter Gary McGuire. Due to a childhood trauma (he was blamed by his father for his brother's accidental death), he does not face a duel, but is still considered a great hero who shot five bandits in a bank robbery. When the actual perpetrator - the leader of the man who was killed and responsible for the bank robbery, Owl Roy - is back in the area, he makes Gary a mockery of the people. Nevertheless, Roy makes Gary his confidante about his father's property; Coleman soon also knows that Roy knows and then has Roy kidnapped and Gary captured. The sight of the tormented boy allows Gary to overcome his trauma. He escaped during the night and attacks the Coleman ranch alone. His exceptional skills and the support of friends from the circus soon allow him to gain significant advantages. He can kill Coleman and bring Owl Gray to justice.

criticism

Christian Keßler notices a hero who - unusual for a spaghetti western - “has to endure humiliations that reduce his masculinity and are difficult to see”. He sums up: "A very excellent film."

Remarks

The box-office result in Italy was a below-average Lire 132 million .
