Illingen is a district of the municipality of Welver in the district of Soest ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) and is located on the north-western border of the district of Soest.
The village was mentioned in a document in 1289. The term Kamp is often used in the field names , e.g. B: Dornkamp Kreuzkamp. Kamp means pasture, many grazing animals were probably kept here in the past. House Illingen , which is now privately owned , used to be a moated castle . The place is characterized by agriculture, but the village image changed fundamentally after the destruction in World War II . The majority of the residents are Catholic. Illingen was merged with other villages on July 1, 1969 to form the new municipality of Welver.
