Life

Ilse Haider completed her studies in 1988 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Arnulf Rainer and studied at the Royal College of Art with Eduardo Paolozzi until 1990 . Between 1995 and 2001 she taught at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz . In 2003 she received the great art prize of the city of Vienna.

Her photo works are characterized by their three-dimensional effect, which she achieves through the use of innovative methods in addition to traditional photo technology . In terms of content, she attaches great importance to the portrayal of women and men : she likes to play with gender-specific role and identity behavior . Her collage-like works (she often uses image material from old magazines that she exposes on three-dimensional image carriers ) work through the interplay between different image levels.

In 2006 she portrayed the castle emblem members Andrea Clausen and Michael Heltau for the new portrait gallery in the break foyer of the Burgtheater . In 2012 the artist installed the walk-in sculpture of a male nude entitled "Mr.Big" as part of the exhibition "naked men" in the outdoor area of the Leopold Museum in Vienna's MuseumsQuartier .
