history
The first written mention of Imielno comes from the year 1326. However, it is assumed that the village was founded in the 13th century. Initially, the settlement was called Jemioła ( German "mistletoe" ) and was probably subordinate to the descendants of the Czech knight Poraj. The coat of arms, newly introduced in 1998, draws attention to the old name and the former ownership.
local community
The rural community (gmina wiejska) Imielno includes the village itself and 20 other villages with school authorities. The rural community covers an area of around 101 km².
monument
The three-aisled church of St. Nicholas on the south-western edge of the village is an important architectural monument. It is listed in the official list of monuments under the number A.89 / 1-2. The church was built in the 13th century and was originally in the Romanesque style. In the 15th and 17th centuries the church was expanded and got Gothic and Baroque elements in this way . Inside there is a main altar and two late baroque side altars. A special feature are the many epitaphs from the period between the 16th and 19th centuries. The oldest epitaph dates from 1591 and is dedicated to Nicholas Mokrskiemu .
