Imogen Kimmel

Imogen Kimmel (born March 28, 1957 in Solingen ) is a German director and author .

Life

In addition to her studies ( literary studies / art history ) at the Free University of Berlin , she worked as an assistant director at Sender Freie Berlin and played theater. This was followed by studies at the University of Television and Film in Munich . Her first film, Imagine yourself ... 3 minutes , together with Alexandra Pohlmeier , a study on the time unit three minutes, was shown at the Oberhausen Short Film Festival . Her graduation film Moments ... views premiered at the Hof Film Festival in 1988. Then she shot a documentary I want to be a bit freer (WDR 1992) and, together with Maris Pfeiffer, the environmental spot War up the ass , which was shown at the Hof Film Festival was sold to 250 cinemas in Germany. In 1992/93 she went to the Northern School of Film and Television in Leeds, England, on a DAAD scholarship for postgraduate studies. There she met the English author Catriona McGowan, with whom she developed the script for Secret Society - Club of Strong Women , which she directed in 1999 as an international co-production. The film was shown at many A festivals , had a theatrical release in several countries (including Japan, USA) and won the audience award at the Festival Films des Femmes , Créteil. She also shot the short film All out at sea in England , the film adaptation of an erotic joke that was shown in the competition at the Berlinale and at many A festivals. Imogen Kimmel has directed numerous television films since 2003. She had lectureships at the HFF Munich , Babelsberg Film Academy and the Ludwigsburg Film Academy .
