Imre Steindl
Imre Steindl (also Emerich Steindl or Emmerich Steindl ) (born October 29, 1839 in Pest , Austrian Empire , † August 31, 1902 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary ) was a Hungarian architect and university professor .
Life
Steindl studied at the Technical University of Budapest and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna ( Friedrich Schmidt School of Architecture ).
In 1870 the k. Josefs-Polytechnikum in Ofen (through systemization ) university status, and Steindl, who had already been a teaching assistant at the institute , was appointed head of the second chair for architecture. In 1871 he was appointed a member of the Hungarian State Council for Fine Arts . After the death of the architect Franz Schulz (Ferenc Schulcz, 1838–1870), Steindl headed the restoration work on Hunedoara Castle in what is now Romania until 1874 , where he was able to show Archduke Joseph (1833–1905) construction progress on October 16, 1874 . In 1879, together with the architect Alois Hausmann , he took over the planning of the new political technical center (whose main building was completed by Hausmann in 1909).
In addition to membership in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 1899, he was also a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects . Steindl was buried at the Kerepesi temető in Budapest.
Steindl left a legacy of three million crowns . In 1907 , the bankruptcy was opened over the assets of his daughter and her husband, the former head of the Hont Béla Horváth County (1859–1940). In 1916 parts of the house (on two properties in Pest) were transferred from Steindl's widow Euphonie (née Mirosavlyević) to her underage grandsons Margit and Emerich Horváth.
