Individual Thought Patterns is the fifth music album by the death metal band Death .
History of origin
Sean Reinert and Paul Masvidal from Cynic dropped out after the tour to Human to focus on their main band again. Andy LaRoque of the band King Diamond joined as guitarist . He was also involved in songwriting . Gene Hoglan was signed as the second new member . A music video was shot for the song "The Philosopher" .
Andy LaRoque was unable to play the tours for the album because of his involvement with King Diamond. For the European tour Craig Locicero took over from Forbidden , for the US tour Ralph Santolla of Eyewitness guitar.
Music genre
Individual Thought Patterns is the band's most technically mature album to date. The brutal death metal of previous albums has almost completely disappeared. Like its predecessor, the music is influenced by jazz , with influences from power metal on this album . Chuck Schuldiner's vocals moved away from the genre growling and now sound clearer. Critics praised Schuldiner's guitar playing and Gene Hoglan's fast drumming.
successes
Individual Thought Patterns reached number 30 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart in 1993.
