The industrial culture trail Limmat – Wasserschloss is a hiking trail that connects buildings and bridges of industrial history on the Limmat in the Swiss canton of Aargau . The route leads from Wettingen via Baden , Turgi and Windisch to Brugg . Along the way there are former textile factories, railway bridges and other buildings from the history of the railway, power plants and other, mostly former industrial companies.

The way

The industrial culture trail is divided into five stages, each starting at a train station. The buildings, which are of interest in industrial history, are explained on information boards. There are also signs indicating buildings that have already been demolished. In the Baden – Wettingen– Neuenhof region , the industrial culture trail runs partially parallel to the Baden – Wettingen – Neuenhof cultural trail .

The first stage

The first stage begins at Wettingen train station and leads from there, mostly along the Limmat to Neuenhof with the Webermühle and to the Wettinger monastery peninsula. Among other things, you can see:

  4. Upper Limmat Bridge Neuenhof-Wettingen

The second stage

The second stage begins at Baden train station and leads towards Ennetbaden .

  4. Former Aue spinning mill and power plant
  5. Baden high bridge
  6. Baden wooden bridge
  7. Former Streule tannery and leather goods factory
  8. Former Diebold and Wegmann factories

  10. Former Baden gas works
  11. Kappelerhof power plant

The third stage

The third stage primarily reveals the history of the former Brown, Boveri & Cie. (today ABB ) in Baden North.

  4. ABB area (with three locations)
  5. Villa Langmatt
  6. Motor-Columbus
  7. Northeast Swiss power plants

The fourth stage

The fourth stage starts at Turgi train station and leads to Vogelsang and Untersiggenthal .

  5. Power plant and former spinning mills in Turgi

The fifth stage

The fifth stage shows the industrial buildings in the Brugg-Windisch region.
