Ingela Brimberg

Ingela Maria Brimberg , married Tengzelius Brimberg (born May 5, 1964 in Stockholm ), is a Swedish opera singer ( soprano or dramatic soprano ). Besides her career as a singer, Ingela Brimberg is also a qualified psychologist.

Life

Ingela Brimberg was born as the second daughter of the lawyer and teacher Yngve (1926–2003) and his wife Evy Brimberg.

She was trained at Operastudio 67 in Stockholm and at the Opera School of Gothenburg University. Ingela Brimberg began her career as a mezzo-soprano with roles such as Rosina in Rossini's Barbiere di Siviglia , Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and the title role in George Frideric Handel's Orlando . In 2003 she made her debut as a soprano in the role of Konstanze in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail . In the Stockholm Folkoperan she portrayed Donna Anna in Don Giovanni . In the same year she won the Svenska Dagbladets Opera Award.

In 2014 she sang the title role in the La Fura dels Baus production of Richard Strauss ' Elektra at the NorrlandsOperan in Umeå as part of the European Capital of Culture celebrations. In 2017 she sang Elettra in Idomeneo at the Gothenburg Opera , and again Elektra at the Staatstheater Kassel and Chrysothemis in a concert version of Elektra at the Verbier Festival . She played Senta in The Flying Dutchman at the Teatro Real in Madrid and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin ; with this role she made her debut at the Theater an der Wien , in Caen and at the Cercle Romand Richard Wagner in Geneva. She also recorded the part on CD under Marc Minkowski . Other important roles were the title role in  Tosca at the Cologne Opera , the Royal Copenhagen Opera House , the Danish Opera and the Finnish National Opera , as well as Leonore in Beethoven's Fidelio at the Verbier Festival. She also sang the roles of Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes at the Royal Stockholm Opera , Elsa ( Lohengrin ) and Valentine ( Les Huguenots ) at the Brussels Opera House , and Senta (The Flying Dutchman) at the Hamburg State Opera . In 2017 she sang the role of Brünnhilde in Tatjana Gürbaca's three-part version of the Ring at Theater an der Wien. Among the orchestras that Ingela Brimberg worked with are the Swedish Radio Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg , the Konzerthausorchester Berlin , and the Verbier Festival Orchestra.

Ingela Brimberg is married to Ulf Tengzelius and has two sons.
