The Insel nature reserve in Senftenberger See is located in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in Brandenburg .
The area with the identification number 1370 was placed under nature protection by ordinance of March 26, 1981 . The 890 hectare nature reserve extends south of the core town of Senftenberg in Lake Senftenberg . The B 96 runs north and the Schwarze Elster flows north and west . The state border with Saxony runs east.
