The Welkteich nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the town of Lauchhammer in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in Brandenburg .

The area with the identification number 1371 was placed under nature protection by ordinance of March 26, 1981 . The approximately 113 hectare nature reserve in the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft nature park extends south of Grünewalde , a district of the city of Lauchhammer, and west of the core town of Lauchhammer. State road L 63 runs along the eastern edge of the area .
